“There is no tool for development more effective than the empowerment of women” - Kofi Annan
Project Shakthi is a Climb for Cause initiative to Empower, Educate and Elevate girl children from underprivileged backgrounds.
Our goal is to raise $100,000 funds to educate 100 girls in India through high-altitude mountain climbs and expeditions.
Along with raising funds for education through the platform of high-altitude mountaineering and exploration, this initiative strives to inspire girls and women globally to transcend their boundaries, both internal and external, and help them realize what we as girls can achieve when we push our boundaries, whether in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) fields or Extreme Environments. We call it STEAM-X!
Project Shakthi has been initiated by Dr.Kavya K.Manyapu, a Space Scientist & President Awardee. She will be collaborating with explorers around the world to lead expeditions raising funds for girl education.
For Expedition -1 she is collaborated with Poorna Malavath the youngest girl to climb Mount Everest and a world record holder. While Dr.Kavya represents a triumphant story in STEAM fields, Poorna represents pushing the physical and mental boundaries when a girl from a modest background is given an opportunity, literally scaling the highest mountain(s) in the world!
Bringing their Passion to serve their Purpose, the duo climbed and made a first ascent of an Unclimbed/virgin peak (>6000m/ 20,000 ft) in Ladakh, India in August 2022. This was featured by CNN Sports.
Expedition-2 was a climb by Dr.Kavya to Mount Aconcagua (22,837’) in 2023, the highest peak in South America and one of the 7 summits.
Project Shakthi expeditions will be documented and telecasted to inspire girls and explorers alike. Alongside, Project Shakthi team will host seminars to motivate and inspire the next generation.
Girls sponsored by Project Shakthi initiative will have the unique opportunity to be paired with students from the United States
Our Project Shakthi Mentors-in-Residence Youth Team will provide valuable mentorship for these girls to develop soft skills and conduct monthly workshops .
We are partnering with AVS Academy, a US based educational academy to engage the next generation in this cause and provide them the opportunity to mentor students in India while building their empathic, leadership and community service skills
Through Project Shakthi, we want to raise awareness and help girls achieve their true potential while providing them access to education.
Education is a fundamental right, and we believe that it is undoubtedly one of the most effective means for individuals to rise above and contribute towards building a brighter future and transcending frontiers!
We are partnering with AVS Academy, educational academy to engage the next generation in this cause and provide them the opportunity to mentor students in India while building empathic skills.
We have partnered with TV 5 News channel who will be sponsoring our expeditions. A documentary from the duo’s climbs will be telecasted to inspire the next generation.
We are collaborating with Transcend Adventures, a premier mountaineering and expedition company that will coach (Shekhar Babu Bachinepally) and mentor donors wanting to climb with Project Shakthi team.
For the first two expeditions we collaborated with TANA Foundation to provide us an online fund raising platform in US and India.
